As mentioned, it is really difficult to pin point the underlying challenges between men and women when learning programming, and in general the same advice applies to both parties but with few differences. It really depends on the person and his behavior.

The part you mention about the way men are around women is interesting though, I think this don’t have to do with programming necessary, but more about the relationship between men and women in our nature. However, I do see that it makes things awkward when behavior in a work situation is affected due to gender differences.

I’ll add a section that elaborates this further, would love to hear more from you in other scenarios you’ve experienced.
