Working in various software teams for many years can teach you some valuable lessons like improving communication skills, building a network, and understanding who to contact when you are stuck, this will impress your colleagues and show that you are a person that focuses on self-development and aims to do a good job at work.

1. I can do this — mentality
We have all been in situations where we are asked to work with something we have little or no experience with. So what do we do? Do you tell the person you do not know, or do you show that you are willing to find the solution?
If you give it a try you can learn something, but if you do not try then you will gain almost nothing. When working in a software team, it is important to have — let me try this mentality. This will create a good appearance and they will see that you are enthusiastic to expand your skills and also take more responsibility for things. However, at times, we cannot solve something but at least we can provide alternatives, this is explained in the next section.
2. They see everything
Doing something you have no experience with means you most likely will spend some time learning it before implementing it. The person may not have all the time in the world also, so a great thing to do is to let them know that you will spend some time figuring out the solution and if that is ok.
When working in software teams I always try to be humble and tell them how it is. In the beginning, I wanted to solve everything and compared myself to my co-workers that were years ahead of me in terms of experience. After some time I learned that everything you do or hide is shown in the end, so if you tell someone this it is easy and it takes one hour to solve, but spending up to two days — this will not look very professional.
